Pathway 2026: Bridging the Gap

The Students Support and Progression Cell under the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Government Aizawl College successfully organised a one-day programme titled “Pathway 2026: Bridging the Gap” sponsored by PM -USHA for the outgoing students of the Class of 2026 on April 30, 2026. The programme was held at the Conference Hall, Mualpui Campus, with the aim of preparing students for life beyond college by equipping them with practical knowledge and personal development strategies. Like previous editions, Pathway 2026 brought together distinguished speakers from diverse professional fields to share their experiences and expertise. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation, with more than 400 students attending. It served as a significant platform to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world challenges, especially in the areas of employment, entrepreneurship, and mental well-being.

The event featured distinguished resource persons from diverse professional backgrounds. Mr. H. Lalchhanhima, CEO of Lushai Organics, shared valuable knowledge about entrepreneurship, highlighting the importance of innovation, perseverance and sustainable business practices. His session motivated students to explore self-employment opportunities and think beyond conventional career paths.

Mr. John Lalrinchhana Jahau, owner of Steven Poultry Farming, delivered an engaging talk on agribusiness and self-reliance. He emphasized the potential of local industries and encouraged students to consider entrepreneurship in agriculture and allied sectors as viable and rewarding career options. He encouraged students to explore agriculture-based enterprises.

Dr. Lalropuii, Counselling Psychologist, addressed the students on mental health and emotional preparedness. Her session focused on coping with stress, managing expectations, and maintaining a positive mindset while transitioning from academic life to professional environments. She also stressed the importance of self-awareness and resilience in achieving personal and professional success.

The sessions were interactive and informative, allowing students to engage directly with the speakers through questions and discussions. The programme concluded on a positive note, with students expressing appreciation for the informative and inspiring sessions. Overall, “Pathway: Bridging the Gap” proved to be a meaningful initiative by the Students Support and Progression Cell (IQAC), contributing significantly to the holistic development and future readiness of the graduating students.

Mizo Department Study Tour

On March 12, 2026, VI semester students from the Department of Mizo went on a study tour with their teachers to visit notable cultural sites places around Aizawl. The tour begun by visiting Zokhua, the hub of cultural heritage at Falkawn, followed by a visit to Sibuta Lung, a gravestone memorial, and Kaphleia’s grave, both located at the outskirts of Tachhip. Lalnunzauva and Daniel Vanlaldampuia gave special lectures at these sites. The tour also included Lianphunga Bung at Sateek and Zawlpala Thlan, another stone memorial at Phulpui. The students found it enriching to visit places significant in Mizo history and literature, gaining firsthand insights into their cultural heritage. 57 students and 6 teachers participated in this study tour.

Entrepreneurship & AI: Building The Future from Mizoram - An Awareness Programme organised by Commerce Department

The Commerce Department hosted esteemed guests from Young Indians, Mizoram Chapter on March 9, 2026 for an awareness programme on 'Entrepreneurship & AI: Building The Future from Mizoram'. All B.Com students and faculty members attended the programme which was held at the Conference Hall, Mualpui campus from 2-4 PM.

Mr. Robert Rohmingliana, Managing Director, Mark Advertising & Events shared his entrepreneurial journey with the students, stressing upon the importance of building networks within and across industries. He exhorted the students to join the 5 AM club and look after their health as well as building a disciplined life.

Mr. Lalrinnunga, Head of Business Development, Lailen Consulting Pvt. Ltd., spoke on “Al for Entrepreneurs”. He gave a rich and insightful presentation on how Al tools are making it easier for aspiring entrepreneurs. He provided practical tips and shared accessible tools that can be readily used by the young students.

Felicitation of Alumni-Entrepreneur F. Laltlandiki

On February 24, 2026, the Commerce Department felicitated Miss F. Laltlandiki, B.Com Class of 2020. Didiki is the Manager and Co-Owner of Dairei Banana Chips.

She had been invited to be a panellist in the Centre Stage Event entitled “Young Entrepreneurs at the Heart of Transformation: From Vision to Impact” organised by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) during February 10-11, 2026 in Rome, Italy. This prestigious event convened youth change makers, high-level policy and business leaders and representatives of 18 IFAD member countries to highlight the essential role of youth-led entrepreneurship in rural transformation.

International Mother Language Day 2026 Observed by Hindi & Mizo Departments

Department Activity

On February 23, 2026, at 1:30 PM, the Departments of Mizo and Hindi, in collaboration with PM Usha, organized International Mother Language Day 2026 at the Conference Hall, Mualpui. The theme for this year was “Youth Voices on Multilingual Education”. The programme was attended by students from the II, IV and VI semesters of the Mizo and Hindi departments, with assistance from department faculty, and had an estimated total attendance of 160 people.

The programme was held under the chairmanship of Mrs. Lalremveli Chenkual, Head, Mizo Department, with speeches delivered by Mr. Lalbiakzuala, Principal, Prof. C. Vanlalhruaia, and Dr. Rebecca Lalhmangaihi. Students also actively engaged in the programme by contributing speeches, chanting cultural poems, and delivering live performances. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Lalrinkimi, Head, Hindi Department.

International Mother Language Day is observed across the world on February 21 every year to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism. Since it fell on a Saturday this year, the observance was moved to the following Monday, February 23, which was the first working day.
