Outreach cum Social Work Programme at Trinity Hospital: History Department

Department Activity

On February 4, 2025 (Tuesday), the Department of History (6th & 4th Semester) in collaboration with 7 members of the Youth Adventure Club organized an Outreach cum Social Work Programme at Trinity Hospital, Silaimual, Aizawl. A total of 92 students and 5 faculty members participated in a cleanliness drive in and around the hospital premises. The programme was carried out as part of the Golden Jubilee celebration programme.

Exploring Rural Realities: A Sociological Study Tour

Department Activity

The Department of Sociology organised a field trip titled 'Exploring Rural Realities: A Sociological Study Tour’ at Lungdai village on January 29, 2025. The programme commenced with assignments, where students were divided into groups to conduct door-to-door surveys and interviews using questionnaires. Important site visits were organised to key locations including the PHC centre, electrical transmission substation, Govt. Primary School, local dairy farm and milking shed. Reuben Lalzawmliana, GAC alumnus and townsperson graciously hosted and assisted with the programme. The study tour was attended by 47 students from 6th Semester, accompanied by six faculty members.

GAC Students Attend Leadership Development Training and Capacity Building Programme

A select number of students (23 in total) and two faculty members, Lalnunmawii Ralte and Zorinfela, attended the Leadership Development Training and Capacity Building programme organised by the Planning and Programme Implementation Department at Vanapa Hall on January 24, 2025. These students will henceforth embark on the Local Immersion Programme for Higher Educational Institutes under the Chief Minister’s Bana Kaih Innovation Challenge.

Crossroads: In Conversation with Lucy Ngaihbanglovi: Commerce Department

Department Activity

The Department of Commerce organised an interactive programme for all the B.Com students entitled “Crossroads: In Conversation with Lucy Ngaihbanglovi” on January 24, 2025 at the Conference Hall, Mualpui campus. The resource person is an Associate Lecturer, Interprofessional Health Sciences at the School of Health Sciences, University of Western Sydney. She spoke about the determinants of health and how it is inextricably linked to the preservation of culture, as well as the importance of cultural preservation. She also reminded the students about the qualities and role of an educated person, and how perseverance is the key factor for success.

State Level Workshop on Draft UGC Regulations 2025 Held at Govt Aizawl College

On January 23, 2025, the Mizoram College Teachers' Association (MCTA) General Headquarters and Government Aizawl College organised a State Level Workshop on "Draft UGC Regulations 2025" at Mualpui Campus, Govt Aizawl College. The workshop was presided over by Mr. Samuel J. Laltlanzaua, President of MCTA, and was graced by Dr. Lalthansangi Fanai, Director of Higher and Technical Education, as the Chief Guest.

Presentations on the Draft UGC Regulations 2025 were delivered by Prof. Benjamin Lalrinsanga, State Nodal Officer for NEP, and Dr. David Rosangliana, Secretary (Organization), MCTA. The workshop witnessed the participation of college faculty members from across Mizoram, including representatives from the Mizoram University Teachers' Association (MUTA) and the Pachhunga University College Teachers' Association (PUCTA). The suggestions and feedback generated from the discussions during the workshop will be compiled and submitted to the University Grants Commission (UGC) for consideration.
