Two-Wheeler Rally Held to Kick Off GAC Golden Jubilee

On January 13, 2025, the College organized a two-wheeler rally in Aizawl city to kick off its Golden Jubilee celebrations. The rally was flagged off from the Sikulpuikawn campus at 7:00 am by Dr. Lalsangzuala Khiangte, Vice Principal (Admin), with around 70 riders participating. Upon reaching the Mualpui Campus, the Jubilee torch was lit by Dr. H. Thansanga, the founding principal, who delivered an inspiring speech. He shared his experiences and the challenges overcome in laying the foundation for the College, from humble beginnings as a night college, and marveled at how it has grown over the past 50 years. Dr. Thansanga also exhorted students and staff to give their best for the College. The event was attended by more than 150 students, faculty and staff members. Dr. Zolianzuali was the host of the ceremony and the Principal, Mr. Lalbiakzuala delivered a short welcome speech. All the attendees partook of a breakfast feast of traditional fare prepared by the office staff.

National Education Day and International Literacy Day Quiz: Education Department

The Department of Education organized a quiz on November 13. 2024 at Sikulpuikawn Campus, Room 505, to commemorate International Literacy Day and National Education Day. The programme was attended by 25 students from MA Education and 4 faculty members.

Social Work at Hmuifang: History Department

Department Activity

On October 31, 2024, 35 students from V Semester of the Department of History went to Hmuifang, the adopted village for social work. They were accompanied by 5 faculty members. The students cleaned up trash along the main road and off-road. The trip instilled a sense of responsibility towards the adopted village. The students also trekked up to Hmuifang Tlang.

The field trip is a fulfilment of one of the projects in the Department Action Plan chalked out by each Department at the beginning of the year to accomplish during the academic year.

Study Tour at Mizoram University: Hindi Department

Department Activity

On October 24, 2024, the Department of Hindi successfully organized an enriching study tour to Mizoram University. This initiative included twenty-four (24) enthusiastic students from the 1st, 3rd, and 5th semesters of the Hindi Core, accompanied by 6 faculty members.

The tour commenced with an inspiring interaction session in a classroom, where Professor Sanjay Kumar, HOD, Department of Hindi, Mizoram University motivated students to take pride in the Hindi language and actively promote its richness. Following this engaging session, the students had the opportunity to explore the extensive resources at the Mizoram University library, to improve their academic experience even more.

Visit to Adopted Village: Political Science Department

Department Activity

The Department of Political Science visited the College's adopted village, Hmuifang Village, on October 23, 2024. During the visit, students carried out a local survey about the Public Distribution System (PDS) using questionnaires, gaining practical understanding and valuable academic insights.

The Customs Aizawl Division, Government of India, sponsored a cleanliness drive, where students collected waste from residential streets, public spaces, and common public areas. The cleanliness drive successfully reduced waste, improved sanitation and hygiene and promoted community engagement, instilling a sense of ownership and responsibility among the students. During the visit, students also stopped by the College's plantation site.

Sixty four students from V semester and six faculties participated in this programme. The programme gave students and faculty a memorable experience, building connections with the community and each other. It provided students with valuable insights into social responsibility, academics and environmental awareness.
