Educated at PC Girls' School and St. Paul's High School, she joined St. Mary's College in Shillong for her BA, and later went on to do her MA at NEHU. Immediately after postgraduation, she worked at Hrangbana College in the morning, St. Paul's H/S by day, and Aizawl College in the evening. In 1987, she entered government service with a posting at Kolasib College as a lecturer, and was transferred the following year in 1988 to Govt. Aizawl College where she worked till her retirement.
