Getting To Know UN and Its Role in Global Environment Management: Sociology Department

The Department of Sociology organized an interactive session with Ms. Lianchawii on "Getting To Know UN and Its Role in Global Environment Management" on July 11, 2024 at the Conference Hall, Mualpui Campus. Through her experience and informed knowledge, Ms. Lianchawii brought different environmental issues occurring all over the world to the eyes and ears of the 5th Semester and 3rd Semester core/major students of Sociology.
Signing of MoU for Skill Enhancement Courses

On July 10, 2024, 2:30 PM the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding with skill providers was held at the Conference Hall, Mualpui campus. Skill Enhancement Courses are integrated in the National Education Policy 2020, which has been adopted by Mizoram University as well as institutions affiliated under it. The function was chaired by Prof. Vanlalhruaia, Chairman, NEP 2020 Implementation Committee, Government Aizawl College and Mr. Lalbiakzuala, Principal, delivered the welcome address and introduction. Dr. K. Vanrammawia, Secretary, NEP 2020 Implementation Committee presented an overview of the Skill Enhancement Courses and how to manage them. The teaching and evaluation of the six (6) identified skill courses has been outsourced to third parties, most of whom are professionals working independently.
The MoU period is initially from July-December 2024 for the academic session of 2024-2025, subject to alteration by mutual consent. Each skill course, a 2-Credit component of the 3rd semester, under the supervision of Course-in-Charges appointed by the institution, will be taught to 3rd semester students who opted one from among the six courses. Classes will be held 3 times a week until the time of their end-semester examination.

Parents-Teachers Meeting Held

The Parents-Teachers Meeting for the new academic year was held on July 4, 2024, at Mualpui Campus, with each department conducting separate sessions. This event aimed to foster communication between parents and the institution, ensuring a collaborative approach towards the students' academic and personal development.
The implications and benefits of the National Education Policy (NEP) were explained, highlighting its impact on the students' education and all round development.
The institution's rules and guidelines were discussed to ensure that parents are aware of the standards and expectations set for their children. This included attendance policies, academic performance criteria, and disciplinary measures.
The importance of Mentoring in the students' academic journey was emphasized. Parents were informed about the mentoring system in place, and how it supports students in their academic and personal growth.
The meet provided a platform for parents to voice their concerns and seek clarifications on various issues. The interactive sessions ensured that parents left with a clear understanding of the college's policies and the support mechanisms available for their children. It is hoped that the event will reinforce partnership between the college and the parents in ensuring students' success.


Orientation Programme for 3rd Semester Students

The Orientation Programme for 3rd Semester students was conducted at the Baptist Convention Centre in Falkland on July 3, 2024. The event was attended by 259 students.
Prof. Vanlalringa Bawitlung presided over the event, highlighting the importance of academic excellence and continuous learning. The programme began with a welcome address by the Principal, Mr. Lalbiakzuala. He encouraged students to make the most of their college experience and utilize the resources available to them for personal and academic growth.
Dr. K Vanrammawia, Secretary, NEP 2020 Implementation Committee, delivered a presentation on the National Education Policy. Dr. Vanlalngaii, Chairperson, Mentoring Cell, discussed the significance of mentoring. Mrs. Elizabeth L. Hmar, Head, Department of English elaborated on the rules and practices of the college.
Mr. Mark V. Vanlalrema, Institutional Coordinator, Skill Development Course under NEP 2020, from the Department of English, spoke about the Skill Enhancement Courses offered by the college. He explained the various courses available, stressing their importance in equipping students with essential skills that would benefit their future careers. All students then registered themselves on the skills of their choice among the selected skill enhancement courses such as, Sports and Physical Education, Beauty and Wellness, Basics of tailoring, Electrical House Wiring, Music: A Learner’s Guide Safety & Emergency Preparedness.

The Orientation Programme for 1st Semester students was conducted at the Baptist Convention Centre in Falkland on July 2, 2024. The event was attended by 534 students out of the 658 enrolled for the semester.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Principal, Mr. Lalbiakzuala. The Vice Principal, Mr. Lalsangzuala Khiangte, presided over the event.
Dr. K Vanrammawia, Secretary, NEP 2020 Implementation Committee, presented a talk on the National Education Policy, outlining its implications and benefits for the students. He highlighted upon the course objectives and course outcomes of the programmes in the new policy. Dr. Vanlalngaii,Chairperson,Mentoring Cell, discussed the importance of mentoring and how students can seek guidance and support from their mentors to enhance their academic and personal development. A representative from Hereus provided a comprehensive overview of the College Management System, explaining how it would facilitate various administrative and academic processes for the students. Mrs. Ngurhmingliani Sailo, Head, Department of Education elaborated on the College Rules and Practices, ensuring that students understood the guidelines and standards expected of them during their time at the institution.
The Orientation Programme set a positive and encouraging start for the new semester.
