Invited Lecture on Early Childhood Care and Education: Education Department

The Department of Education invited Ms. Mynah Lalrinmawii, B.A. (Edn.), B.Ed., D. El. Ed. (ECE) to give a special lecture on Early Childhood Care and Education at the Conference Hall, Mualpui Campus on July 19, 2024. The resource person gave a compelling and insightful speech. A lively interaction between the students and the resource person followed. Fifty students and 6 faculty members attended the programme. Ms. Zothanchami chaired the programme and Mr. Vanlalchhuana gave the vote of thanks.
GAC Freshers Social 2024

The Freshers Social, held on July 16, 2024 at Vanapa Hall, was a vibrant and welcoming event organized to help new students integrate into campus life. The event, hosted by Rosalynd Lallawmsangi of 5th Semester (English Core) and Lalremsanga, (Political Science Core, Class of 2024) was held at Vanapa Hall, with approximately 600 freshers, fifth semester students, and faculty members in attendance.
The event commenced with Bible reading and prayer by Hriatchhunga Colney. Zothankima, Vice President, Students Union, delivered the welcome speech, encouraging the new students to embrace their journey at the institution with enthusiasm and an open mind. The Evangelical Union Choir then performed a welcome song. Chatuan Lalrampana, General Secretary of the Students' Union provided a brief introduction and report, outlining their roles and activities to help the new students understand the support available to them. The Music Club performed the college theme song, which resonated with the audience and highlighted the spirit and values of the institution, followed by a performance from the Dance Club, showcasing their talent. Grace Zokhumi Hmar, an English Major student, gave a speech on behalf of the Freshers, sharing her excitement and aspirations for her time at the college. The Huiva Cultural Club performed a medley of traditional dances called “Huiva Leng”, celebrating the rich cultural heritage and diversity of the student body. Laldawngliani captivated the audience with a solo performance, adding a personal and emotional touch to the event.
The Principal, Lalbiakzuala, delivered a speech encouraging the new students to strive for excellence and make the most of their time at the institution. He also announced the record-breaking enrollment of 665 students for the First semester. The Principal also felicitated the 13 Mizoram University Undergraduate Examination 2023-24 rank holders, recognizing their hard work and academic excellence. The rank holders are as follows:

The outgoing SU leaders were honored with mementos, acknowledging their contributions and leadership over the past year.
The second session opened in the afternoon with a performance by the Music Club, followed by a performance from the Huiva Cultural Club. A ramp walk featuring the freshers and the current Miss and Mister GAC 2024 was a highlight of the event, adding a touch of glamour and excitement. The Dance Club's performance captivated the audience and showcased the diverse talents of the students.
The crowd was thrilled by a special performance by guest artist Youngfella, who brought his unique style and energy to the stage. The Kimkims, a popular student band, delivered a performance that had everyone on their feet. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Lalnunfima, the Assistant General Secretary of the Student Union, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event.
The Freshers Social received positive feedback from attendees, who appreciated the opportunity to connect with peers and faculty. It set a positive tone for the academic year ahead, promising a supportive and dynamic environment for all students.

Getting To Know UN and Its Role in Global Environment Management: Sociology Department

The Department of Sociology organized an interactive session with Ms. Lianchawii on "Getting To Know UN and Its Role in Global Environment Management" on July 11, 2024 at the Conference Hall, Mualpui Campus. Through her experience and informed knowledge, Ms. Lianchawii brought different environmental issues occurring all over the world to the eyes and ears of the 5th Semester and 3rd Semester core/major students of Sociology.
Signing of MoU for Skill Enhancement Courses

On July 10, 2024, 2:30 PM the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding with skill providers was held at the Conference Hall, Mualpui campus. Skill Enhancement Courses are integrated in the National Education Policy 2020, which has been adopted by Mizoram University as well as institutions affiliated under it. The function was chaired by Prof. Vanlalhruaia, Chairman, NEP 2020 Implementation Committee, Government Aizawl College and Mr. Lalbiakzuala, Principal, delivered the welcome address and introduction. Dr. K. Vanrammawia, Secretary, NEP 2020 Implementation Committee presented an overview of the Skill Enhancement Courses and how to manage them. The teaching and evaluation of the six (6) identified skill courses has been outsourced to third parties, most of whom are professionals working independently.
The MoU period is initially from July-December 2024 for the academic session of 2024-2025, subject to alteration by mutual consent. Each skill course, a 2-Credit component of the 3rd semester, under the supervision of Course-in-Charges appointed by the institution, will be taught to 3rd semester students who opted one from among the six courses. Classes will be held 3 times a week until the time of their end-semester examination.

Parents-Teachers Meeting Held

The Parents-Teachers Meeting for the new academic year was held on July 4, 2024, at Mualpui Campus, with each department conducting separate sessions. This event aimed to foster communication between parents and the institution, ensuring a collaborative approach towards the students' academic and personal development.
The implications and benefits of the National Education Policy (NEP) were explained, highlighting its impact on the students' education and all round development.
The institution's rules and guidelines were discussed to ensure that parents are aware of the standards and expectations set for their children. This included attendance policies, academic performance criteria, and disciplinary measures.
The importance of Mentoring in the students' academic journey was emphasized. Parents were informed about the mentoring system in place, and how it supports students in their academic and personal growth.
The meet provided a platform for parents to voice their concerns and seek clarifications on various issues. The interactive sessions ensured that parents left with a clear understanding of the college's policies and the support mechanisms available for their children. It is hoped that the event will reinforce partnership between the college and the parents in ensuring students' success.
