MOU Signed with RNR Garments

On August 29, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with RNR Garments, Mission Vengthlang, at the Principal’s Chamber, Mualpui Campus. The MoU envisions equipping the institution's fraternity with quality shirts and garments in keeping with development in all spheres of academic and co-curricular activities for the next two years, i.e, till the end of 2025-2026 academic session. The MoU, signed by Lalbiakzuala, Principal, Government Aizawl College, on behalf of the College, and Lalhruaizela, owner, RNR garments, Mission Vengthlang, outlines the purpose, scope, and obligations of both parties. The MoU, being effective now, henceforth mandates all institutionally-recognized bodies to place T-shirts only from RNR Garments, except under special circumstances, who will in turn sell back their products with discounts ranging from 20 to 25% on top of providing possible sponsorships for major college functions.

Joint Meeting Between Golden Jubilee Organising Committee and Alumni Association

A joint meeting between GAC Golden Jubilee Organising Committee and GAC Alumni Committee was held on August 22, 2024 at 2:30 PM at the Faculty Lounge, Mualpui Campus. The meeting considered various matters relating to the College Golden Jubilee Celebration (to be held next year i.e. 2025) and discussed the role of the Alumni Association in the celebration. The meeting also discussed the need to strengthen the Alumni Association and therefore resolved to organize an Alumni Reconnect programme at the earliest and introduce an organised system of Alumni Membership Drive. The meeting was attended by 25 alumni belonging to different batches.

Training on Office Procedure for Non-Teaching Staff

The Governance, Leadership and Management (GLM) Cell under IQAC of Government Aizawl College organised 'Training on Office Procedure for Non-Teaching Staff' on August 16, 2024, at 2:00PM at the Conference Hall, Mualpui Campus. All 16 non-teaching staff members of Govt. Aizawl College attended the programme.

The training programme was chaired by Dr. Andrew Lalsangzuala Sailo, Chairman, GLM Cell. Opening remark was delivered by Dr. Zolianzuali, Coordinator, IQAC, GAC, who highlighted the significance of non-teaching staff training and continuous updation, as part of critical NAAC assessment criteria. A speech was also delivered by Lalbiakzuala, Principal, Govt. Aizawl College, who urged the participants to perform their respective jobs with honesty, integrity and self-discipline.

The resource person Pi Zothanpari Colney, Head Assistant, Govt. Aizawl College touched on several areas concerning the job description, filing system, roles and responsibilities of the various cadres of the office staff members and encouraged them to execute work diligently and with good demeanor as they interact with students as well as outsiders visiting the institution.

GAC Wins Second Prize at Independence Day Inter-College Women’s Football Tournament 2024

Government Aizawl College won the Second Prize at the Women & Child Development Independence Day Inter-College Women’s Football Tournament 2024 held during August 8 – 15, 2024. The final match was held on August 15, 2024 (3:30 PM) at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Mualpui where the College team lost to the team from Govt. Hrangbana College with a 0-2 score. The Second Prize carried a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 and a trophy. GAC player Zonuntluangi, 1st Semester, Department of History won the Best Player of the Tournament award carrying a cash prize of Rs. 1,000 and a trophy.

GAC Celebrates Independence Day 2024

Club Activity

To commemorate the 78th anniversary of India’s Independence Day, a flag hoisting ceremony was held in the college courtyard on August 14, 2024 at 1:30 PM. The Principal Mr Lalbiakzuala unfurled the national flag, flanked by the SUOs of the GAC NCC unit. As the National Anthem was played, NCC cadets in full uniform and attending students and faculty members saluted and paid honour to the flag.

At the Independence Day celebration held at AR Ground, nine GAC NCC cadets marched in the parade as part of the Armed Contingent, led by contingent commander JUO Ricky Lalthasanga (5th Sem., Sociology Dept).

Meanwhile, JUO R.M. Lalhmangaihkimi (5th Sem., Political Sc. Dept) and Cdt. P.C. Lalnuntluangi (3rd Sem., English Dept) were part of the pilot party that escorted the Chief Minister.
