Published at October 9, 2024
|Department Activity
On October 9, 2024, the Department of Economics organised a ‘Meet the Alumni’ programme, bringing together former and current students for a day of interaction and knowledge sharing. The programme commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. Andrew Lalsangzela Sailo, Head of Department, who emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong alumni network. A distinguished alumnus of the class of 1985, Mr.Lalhunliana Ralte (Huna Kawlvawm), shared his professional experiences and provided insightful commentary on a variety of topics, including the Indian public tax system, the budget, inflation, disinvestment and resource mobilisation.
The event featured interactive sessions where students had the opportunity to ask questions, and seek guidance from the alumnus on career opportunities, skill development, and industry trends. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Rosie Lalmuanpuii, followed by a networking session, where faculty, students and alumni mingled and shared experiences in an informal setting. The event was a success; fostering a deeper connection between alumni and the college community, while motivating students to strive for excellence in their future endeavours.
About 100 students from the third and fifth semesters as well as six faculty members from the Economics Department attended the event.
