About
The Literature Club was formed on November 10, 2004 by a group of students with a common interest in literature and writing. The club motto is ‘To uncover and advance the works and skills of students through literature’. (Thu leh hla hmanga zirlaite kutchhuak pholan leh an theihna haichhuah leh tihhmasawn).
Enrolment and registration are done at the beginning of every odd semester i.e. in the month of June/July. Membership is open to any student of the college with a nominal membership fee of Rs. 10. Two members from the teaching faculty are nominated as advisors. Club leaders are elected for a term of two semesters (odd and even).
The Club has a literary magazine named Sekibuhchhuak which is usually published on a monthly basis and priced Rs. 10 per copy. On September 11, 2021, the Club also introduced a fortnightly newspaper called Meitalh which features the works of club members and keeps them motivated to keep writing. While there are occasional writings in English, the majority is in Mizo.
The Club has been allotted a small office just next to the college library. Among their other activities are annual outings to places of historical interest within Mizoram, and fundraisers through sales of various items. The Club is very proud of a number of members and former members who have since gone on to publish books both in the fiction and non-fictional genres.
