Disaster Management MOU Signed With Mizoram University

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Mizoram University (MZU) and Govt Aizawl College (GAC), Govt. of Mizoram, on August 30, 2024.

Representatives of the College were led by Lalbiakzuala, Principal, Prof. Vanlalhruaia, Chairman, Disaster Management Committee, Prof.Vanlalringa Bawitlung, Member, Disaster Management Committee and Dr K.Vanrammawia, Asst. Coordinator, IQAC.

Representing MZU were Prof. Lalnundanga, Registrar and Dr. Laldinpuia, Associate Professor, Centre for Disaster Management (Coordinator), along with witnesses Prof. Ch. Udaya Bhaskara Rao, Head i/c of CDM & Head, Dept. of Geography and Dr. R. Zonunsanga, Asst. Professor, Centre for Disaster Management.

The agreement was signed at the MZU Registrar's Office by the representatives of both parties for the preparation of Disaster Management Policy of GAC. MZU (Centre for Disaster Management) will prepare the policy and will also impart awareness and training. The College will implement the policy, conduct training and awareness programs, and make the necessary arrangements related to the policy.

Education Department Visit to Adopted School

Department Activity

The Department of Education and Village & School Adoption Committee visited Neihlaia Memorial Middle School at Hmuifang on August 30, 2024. Stationery items as well as drinks and snacks were gifted by the department and the Vice Principal Dr. Lalsangzuala Khiangte handed over Rs. 25000/- for school development purposes as financial assistance from the college. Students collected data from teachers and students of the school using interview and observation methods which will be compiled and submitted to the college for documentation. The team consisted of 32 students and 8 faculty members.

Blood Donation Drive: NSS & Red Ribbon Club

Club Activity

The NSS GAC Unit in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club organised a Blood Donation Drive on August 30, 2024 (Friday) at Sikulpuikawn Campus, Govt. Aizawl College. In total, 131 units of blood was donated with 111 male and 20 female donors. Two alumni donors were present and an outsider also donated a unit as well. A department-wise break up of donors is as follows:

MOU Signed with RNR Garments

On August 29, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with RNR Garments, Mission Vengthlang, at the Principal’s Chamber, Mualpui Campus. The MoU envisions equipping the institution's fraternity with quality shirts and garments in keeping with development in all spheres of academic and co-curricular activities for the next two years, i.e, till the end of 2025-2026 academic session. The MoU, signed by Lalbiakzuala, Principal, Government Aizawl College, on behalf of the College, and Lalhruaizela, owner, RNR garments, Mission Vengthlang, outlines the purpose, scope, and obligations of both parties. The MoU, being effective now, henceforth mandates all institutionally-recognized bodies to place T-shirts only from RNR Garments, except under special circumstances, who will in turn sell back their products with discounts ranging from 20 to 25% on top of providing possible sponsorships for major college functions.
