Pathway 2024 Held Successfully

The Student Support & Progression Cell and the Career Counseling & Placement Cell jointly organized “Pathway 2024: Bridging the Gap” during April 15-16, 2024 at Mualpui Campus for the outgoing 6th Semester students. Gauging the diverse needs of the students, 7 speakers from various fields were invited.
On April 15, 2024 (Monday), the programme consisted of four sessions. The theme of the first session was ‘Staff Selection Commission Examinations’ with Mr. Eleazer Tetea Hmar, a representative of MISCAS. In the second session, the theme was 'Soft Skills', which was expertly taught by Mrs. Caroline Rinthanpuii Fanai, Deputy State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, Mizoram and Ms. Natalia Rosangliani Sailo, Teacher, St. Paul's Higher Secondary School. The third session facilitated the students to interact with local entrepreneurs Mr. R. Zarzoliana, Owner, ZD Milk Processing Industry and Ms. Vanlalrinzuali, Founder, Lelen under the theme of ‘Skill Development’. In the last session, the resource persons Ms. Lalruatzeli, FAO, Dept of Rural Development and Mr. Lalnunpuia, SDC & Executive Magistrate, spoke on the theme ‘Getting Ready for Competitive Examinations’.
On April 16, 2024 (Tuesday), Campus Placement Programme was organized in collaboration with GIG Motors, LH Thanga Enterprise, Amawii Hero, Reliance Nippon Life Insurance, ICICI Prudental Life Insurance and SBI Life Insurance. More than 60 students benefitted from this placement drive.

Study Tour of Cultural Site at Reiek

A study tour of the cultural site at Reiek Village was organized by the Department of English on the 11th April 2024. Twenty four 6th semester English Core students and five faculty members participated.
The village, located about 30 kms from Aizawl, offers a variety of tourist attractions including an array of Mizo huts of a typical ancient village, each designed and furnished according to the existing social norm. This enabled the students to immerse themselves in a first-hand experience of life in the past, its values and social mores. The participants also hiked up the summit of Reiek hill, which is 1548 metres from sea level.

Workshop on Understanding Autism

The Department of Education conducted a workshop on ‘Understanding Autism’ in observation of World Autism Awareness Day on 2nd April, 2024 at Conference Hall, Sikulpuikawn campus. The programme consisted of group presentations on topics related to autism. Students were divided into 8 groups from both PG and 6th Semester UG classes. Each group prepared and presented a poster related to their respective topics. They were judged based on their performances and prizes were distributed to the best group and best poster. Altogether there were 50 students and 4 faculty from the department.

Meet the Alumni

On the 28th March, the last of the Meet the Alumni lecture series was conducted by the English Dept. The invited alum was Roderick Thangdingliana Renthlei, Class of 2019, who went on to study law and complete his LLB. He reminisced about his college days and revealed how he became interested in law studies after an altercation with his local YMA, feeling he needed to know his rights. He also shared some legal awareness from his studies and his current practice at the District Court.
28 students from the 6th semester and 7 faculty members attended the talk held at the Mualpui Conference Hall.
Mrs. Vanlalsawmi Retires

Mrs. Vanlalsawmi, Associate Professor, Dept. of Education, was given a farewell by the college Employees Welfare Association on the 28th March 2024 as she goes on superannuation pension after 37 years of service.
Educated at PC Girls' School and St. Paul's High School, she joined St. Mary's College in Shillong for her BA, and later went on to do her MA at NEHU. Immediately after postgraduation, she worked at Hrangbana College in the morning, St. Paul's H/S by day, and Aizawl College in the evening. In 1987, she entered government service with a posting at Kolasib College as a lecturer, and was transferred the following year in 1988 to Govt. Aizawl College where she worked till her retirement. She was also the college Director of Students' Welfare for several years.
Friendly and jovial by nature, while also being caring and thoughtful, she is a natural-born teacher, and over the course of her career, has helped numerous students in need with counselling, financial aid and prayers even over the phone.
We wish her a well-deserved and healthy retired life with her daughter at their home in Kulikawn.
