As part of the Golden Jubilee Celebration's 'Gives Back' initiative, the Department of Economics organized a community outreach visit to the Operation Kingdom Ministry (OKM) Home at Phunchawng on October 10, 2025.

OKM Home serves as a crucial rehabilitation centre, providing care and support for over 400 individuals battling drug addiction. The primary rehabilitation model involves a structured seven-month program where residents engage in intensive Bible study and spiritual guidance. This program is designed to instil discipline, hope, and a renewed sense of purpose. Importantly, the home operates on a voluntary basis, and residents are free to leave upon completion of this period if they so choose.

More than 50 students and six faculty members participated in the visit. The interaction provided a profound learning experience beyond the academic curriculum. Students had the opportunity to engage with the residents, understanding their journey and the challenges they face, as well as the transformative process they undergo.

The Department of Sociology in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club observed 'International Youth Day' on August 11, 2025 (Monday) at Mualpui Campus. The programme was enriched by the enthusiastic participation of students, who not only showcased their creativity through thought-provoking posters but also demonstrated their commitment to spreading HIV/AIDS awareness, stigma, prevention strategies and sex education by distributing informative pamphlets and condoms, thereby fostering a culture of safe practices and open discussion around sensitive topics.

The event culminated in a resounding success, with the collective efforts of the Sociology Department faculties, 3^rd and 5^th Semester students, and Red Ribbon Club members leaving a lasting impact on the attendees, fostering a ripple effect of awareness and understanding.

As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, an Inter-College Debate Competition was successfully organized on September 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Conference Hall, Mualpui Campus.

The lively debate session was held on the topic “Mipui hnena tui thianghlim pek leh faina kawngah sorkarin hma a la tha tawk a ni.” and was sponsored by the Public Health Engineering Department, Local Administration Department and Planning and Programme Implementation Department, Government of Mizoram. The inaugural function was graced by Pi Teresy Vanlalhruaii, Secretary, PHED Government of Mizoram who attended as the Chief Guest.

A total of 20 participants representing 10 colleges across the state competed in the event. The programme was well attended, with an audience of more than 250 comprising of students, faculty members and invited guests.

The result of the competition is as follows:

First Prize: H.C.Lalrinfela, Govt. Hrangbana College

Second Prize: Vanlalkhawngaihdawngzeli, Pachhunga University College

Third Prize: Dinsawmkimi, Govt. Hrangbana College

The event concluded successfully, providing a platform for intellectual exchange among students while also contributing to the academic significance of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Government Aizawl College.

On September 19, 2025, the Semester V students of the Department of Education, along with faculty members, visited the Samaritan Riangvai Run, Seling as part of the GAC Golden Jubilee Outreach cum Project Work for IPC under the NEP curriculum. Resource donations as well as community service were carried out. The institution supports a total of 65 specially abled patients and orphans as well as 11 workers.

The outreach programme started with a formal function followed by an interactive session with the Home Mother for enrichment of the students’ project work followed by a cleaning session. A total of 57 students as well as 6 faculty members participated in this programme.

On September 19, 2025, the Department of Commerce visited Govt. Salem Primary School, Salem on an outreach mission as part of the GAC Golden Jubilee Gives Back initiative. All B.Com students and the faculty members had contributed money and distributed cakes and juice packs to the school children. They also donated 92 storybooks to kickstart the school's library and repainted the pathway inside the school campus. The students interacted freely with the school children and all had a wonderful time.
