Alumni Engagement Programme: Political Science Department

The Department of Political Science organised an Alumni Engagement Programme on September 18, 2026 in the Conference Hall as part of Alumni Week 2026 with alumnus Mr. Lalrinawma Ralte (1998-2001 Batch), currently serving as Deputy Secretary, Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) as the resource person. The resource person delivered a lecture on the topic “From Rote to Competence: Redefining Education”. He emphasised the need to move beyond memorization-based learning and explained that education should develop understanding, critical thinking, creativity, problem solving abilities and ethical awareness. He further stressed that students must be encouraged to apply knowledge to real- life situations rather than merely reproduce information in examinations. Drawing from his personal academic and professional experiences, Mr. Lalrinawma encouraged students to become competent, confident and socially responsible citizens.

The session was highly informative and interactive. Students enthusiastically participated in the discussion. The programme was a great success and provided valuable insight into the need for competency- based, practical and inclusive education.

The programme was attended by faculty members and students of 3rd and 5th Semesters.
