On July 10, 2025, 12:30 PM, the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Mizoram State Branch conducted a landmark Sensitization on Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid Training Session at Government Aizawl College, heralding a new era of humanitarian awareness and preparedness in Mizoram’s higher education landscape.
The training was attended by 37 newly inducted Youth Red Cross volunteers, alongside Dr. Vanlalmuana, the faculty-in-charge of the Youth Red Cross unit at the College. Their active involvement underscored the growing enthusiasm among students to serve as frontline contributors to community welfare.
The session featured comprehensive instruction on Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid, led by Pi Lalmuanpuii Hnamte, Demonstrator at RIPANS Aizawl. Her training blended both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical exercises, covering essential emergency procedures ranging from management of Epistaxis (nosebleeds) to techniques for administering Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). This immersive learning experience equipped participants with vital life-saving competencies, fostering greater confidence and responsibility in emergency scenarios.
The program concluded with an inspiring message from Pu Lalngilneia, District Sports and Youth Officer, Government of Mizoram, who emphasized the enduring value and societal benefits of Red Cross services. His words resonated deeply, reinforcing the role of youth led humanitarian efforts in shaping a resilient and compassionate community. The training session marks a significant advancement in the activities of the IRCS Mizoram Branch, laying a strong foundation for future outreach and volunteer-driven initiatives. It is anticipated that this pioneering effort will encourage other institutions to emulate Government Aizawl College’s proactive engagement.
