Mrs. Vanlalsawmi, Associate Professor, Dept. of Education, was given a farewell by the college Employees Welfare Association on the 28th March 2024 as she goes on superannuation pension after 37 years of service.
Educated at PC Girls' School and St. Paul's High School, she joined St. Mary's College in Shillong for her BA, and later went on to do her MA at NEHU. Immediately after postgraduation, she worked at Hrangbana College in the morning, St. Paul's H/S by day, and Aizawl College in the evening. In 1987, she entered government service with a posting at Kolasib College as a lecturer, and was transferred the following year in 1988 to Govt. Aizawl College where she worked till her retirement. She was also the college Director of Students' Welfare for several years.
Friendly and jovial by nature, while also being caring and thoughtful, she is a natural-born teacher, and over the course of her career, has helped numerous students in need with counselling, financial aid and prayers even over the phone.
We wish her a well-deserved and healthy retired life with her daughter at their home in Kulikawn.
